Sappi is a global diversified wood fiber company focused on providing pulp, specialty and packaging papers, printing and writing papers, biomaterials and biochemicals to our direct and indirect customer base in more than 150 countries.
Our industry faces unprecedented changes, and we have a leading role in technological innovation. With our investment in an ambitious research and development program, we will continue to release real potential from sustainable renewable resources, primarily with wood fibers. For us, that means we can differentiate our product offering in a time of regulated carbon emissions and serve the ever-increasing demand in areas such as bioenergy and pharmaceuticals.
Sappi and our peers in the forest-based industries heavily rely on forest certification systems to ensure the wood we use is sourced from responsibly managed forests. Sappi is a living proof that forest certification can be mainstreamed!
We are proud to have chain of custody certifications at all our mills globally and well-established throughout our value chains. We strive for continued increase in certified woodfibre use and are excited to get PEFC Forest Management certification going in South Africa. Together we have a tremendous opportunity and imperative to further position woodfibre solutions in the context of a low-carbon bioeconomy and forest certification systems are an essential part of this equation.
We welcome the collaboration that PEFC provides and look forward to contributing to the PEFC week and future activities to expand sustainable forest management around the world.
